The series bound into the book, The War of the Worlds, was an instant, cherished, best seller and continued to sell many millions of copies over the next 100 years. This seminal alien invasion account is the most beloved sci-fi novel of all time.

BERTIE WELLS AGE 86 IN 1965 - LAST SURVIVOR OF THE WAR BETWEEN EARTH AND MARS. WAR OF THE WORLDS - THE TRUE STORY
War of the Worlds - The True Story a new movie, does what the original novel and 1938 radio broadcast that terrified America did, by deliberately blurring the lines of reality and fiction.

A 1965 film crew captured the memories of the last living survivor of the war between Earth and Mars that took place c1900. The filmed memoirs, discovered in a vault in 2006, were found  with hours of previously unknown footage of the alien/Earth apocalypse, the actual Martian invaders and their war machines. This is the motion picture presentation of that eyewitness account.
WAR OF THE WORLDS RADIO BROADCAST 1938 ORSON WELLES
The War of the Worlds, Mercury Theatre, aired  live eve of Halloween, October 30, 1938 on CBS radio. Directed by Orson Welles as a series of simulated "news bulletins", which caused listeners to believe an actual alien invasion was currently in progress.
Studies showed that six million heard the CBS broadcast; 1.7 million believed it to be true, and 1.2 million were 'genuinely frightened'".  The uproar was intense. Within a month, there were 12,500 newspaper articles about the broadcast.
The panic inspired U.S. officials to keep UFO evidence secret. 1st Project Blue Book head, U.S.A.F Cpt Edward J. Ruppelt, wrote, "The U.S. government's UFO files are full of references to the near mass panic when Orson Welles presented his now famous The War of the Worlds broadcast."
