“The designs of the tripods and the aliens are much truer to the book than other versions...

The aliens are unsettling, with bright, evil eyes and writhing tentacles.” – Tristan Hiegler, PT Leader

THE CREST THEATRE  1013 K Street Sacramento, CA 95814

SAT JULY 7, 3:30 PM
The historic Crest Theatre in Sacramento California was created as a vaudeville house in 1913, then converted to a motion picture theater in the late 20s. After a closure in 1979, the theater reopened in 1985 featuring the MGM musical "Singin' in the Rain" which starred Donald O'Connor who was in attendance at the event. In 1995, a million dollar restoration brought the Crest, Sacramento's last picture palace back to its spectacular golden-age appearance. The elegant Crest boasts of a fabulous gold leaf art deco interior.

“Congratulations! The movie is great!”  -  Gary Pickrell

“I feel so blessed that I was able to be there for the Seattle opening of War of the Worlds the True Story - such a treat!”
- Kristen Van Bodegraven
“This movie takes you on a ride that you will not get anywhere on the big or small screen right now. If you have a chance to see it in a movie house near you do so. The storyline is compelling and draws you in as well with its news reel clips. I really enjoyed the movie and would enjoy seeing it again.”  -  Sean W Makiney
"Hines and Goforth achieve realism by using both special effects, including CGI, and old film footage" - Steven Rose, Jr, Sacramento Examiner
"The puppetry was done realistically to the point of suspended disbelief." - Steven Rose, Jr, Sacramento Examiner
“THANK YOU! Oh, that was astounding! I am blown away. You hit every note just right. Thank you so much for this experience.” – Tom Dorsey
"I just returned from viewing this film at Cinema 21 in Portland. Forget Tim's 2005 fiasco. This was a complete vindication. The story is told from the POV of the last living survivor, Bertie Wells, in a 1965 interview. Once you accept that premise, settle in for a fast moving pastiche of stock footage images blended with re-creations, ala the History Channel, with images of the Martian machines woven, fairly believably, into the ancient film.
The SFX are very well done; not standing out like a sore thumb especially as the Martian machines make their march burning everything in their path. The dialogue of "Bertie" are the exact words written by Wells in his novel and the actor brings a sense of authority and gravitas to his role. Yes, there are some niggling little things that history buffs and film nerds will be quick to latch onto (I saw Shirley Temple in one scene). But, that can be a source of fun when the Blue-Ray comes out. If you love the source material as much as I do, WotW:TTS is an excellent tribute to H.G. Wells novel and I recommend that it be seen when it gets to your town."
- Jim Colvill, Portland Science Fiction Society.
“Great film!” - Curt Jarl
“There are standout set pieces, like the last stand of the ironclad ship Thunder Child against a group of tripods.”
– Tristan Hiegler, PT Leader
